At last I have got the site up and running to allow access to some of those stitching designs that are not available elsewhere. It has even surprised me how many there are – it is like bringing past friends to the surface again.
For many years I have supplied designs to most of the British cross stitch and patchwork magazines and also to kit companies, nature conservation groups and individuals and have written books and articles. I also ran Wrencraft Needlework Kits in the days when all of the symbols on charts were hand written by pen – a far cry from today.
Craft magazines and even books, of course, have a short life and it is requests for past designs that have caused me to set up this site.
I just love designing and stitching and this gives me the opportunity to do even more. Who needs an excuse to stitch!
A small selection is available here, but lots more will follow.
I have taught a stitch group for a number of years. It started as a cross stitch group but developed to include lots of different stitches and styles. Every year I designed a new challenge and these projects form the basis of ‘Stitch School.’ I will work through and add to these projects with all the instructions and teaching needed to stitch them. Each Lesson will develop new stitches and have a selection of projects relating to them. We are starting with basic cross stitch so all will have the opportunity to take part from the beginning if they wish.
‘Block of the Month’ has been designed using vintage blocks and looks good anyway, but you have the opportunity to personalise them with appliqué and embellishments. I have created it as a ‘Quilt As You Go’ quilt including the sashing and borders so at the end only the blocks need to be stitched together and it is already quilted. If, however, you like quilting the whole quilt front either by hand or machine, feel free to make the blocks and make up the whole quilt later. It is your quilt. I am just the provider of the patterns and ideas.
Well, I hope you find something here to interest you. There is lots more to come!
Keep checking in to see what’s new and please tell your friends about the site.
Happy stitching – with love from Carol
